Trevaline Evans
Antiques dealer Trevaline Evans vanished from her shop in Llangollen, Wales, leaving a 'Back in 2 minutes' sign on the door. She was never seen again.
On June 16, 1990, Trevaline Evans, a 52-year-old antiques dealer, was working at her shop on Castle Street in Llangollen, a town in Denbighshire, north-east Wales. At some point during the afternoon, she placed a handwritten sign on the shop door reading 'Back in 2 minutes' and left. She was never seen again.
When Trevaline failed to return, her husband Richard reported her missing. Her car was found parked near the shop, and she had left her handbag and personal belongings inside. The shop's accounts and paperwork were in order, and there was no indication she had planned to leave.
The investigation revealed that Trevaline had received a phone call at the shop shortly before her disappearance, which may have prompted her to leave. She had also recently placed an advertisement seeking to buy Victorian jewelry, which investigators speculated may have led her to meet someone. Some theories suggested she encountered someone in connection with her antiques business.
Despite extensive investigation by North Wales Police, including searches of local waterways and countryside, Trevaline Evans has never been found. The case has been periodically reviewed, and in 2020 police issued renewed appeals for information on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance. The 'Back in 2 minutes' sign has become one of the most haunting details of any missing person case.
