On June 28, 2015, Dr. Teresa Sievers, a holistic medicine practitioner, was found bludgeoned to death with a hammer in the kitchen of her Bonita Springs, Florida home. She had just returned from a trip with her two daughters.

The investigation revealed that her husband Mark Sievers had orchestrated the murder, hiring his friends Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Jimmy Ray Rodgers to carry out the killing while he established an alibi by being out of state with the children.

Wright turned state's evidence and testified that Mark had planned the murder for months, motivated by marital problems and a desire to collect life insurance. Rodgers, who wielded the hammer, was convicted first.

Mark Sievers was convicted of first-degree murder in 2019 and sentenced to death. Rodgers was convicted and sentenced to life. Wright received a 25-year sentence for his cooperation.
