Sixteen-year-old transgender girl Brianna Ghey was murdered in a park in Warrington by two 15-year-olds. The killers had planned the attack for weeks. Both received life sentences.
On February 11, 2023, Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old transgender girl, was stabbed 28 times in Culcheth Linear Park in Warrington, Cheshire. She died at the scene.
Her killers, Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, both 15, had planned the attack for weeks. Messages between them showed they had discussed methods of killing and had targeted Brianna.
Jenkinson, who had an obsession with torture and serial killers, lured Brianna to the park where Ratcliffe stabbed her. They tried to cover their tracks by wiping their phones.
Both were convicted of murder in February 2024. Jenkinson received a minimum term of 22 years and Ratcliffe 20 years. Brianna's mother Esther campaigned for stricter controls on children's social media access.
