Eleven-year-old Gannon Stauch was murdered by his stepmother Letecia Stauch in Colorado Springs. She transported his body to Florida. She was found guilty but not guilty by reason of insanity.

On January 27, 2020, eleven-year-old Gannon Stauch was reported missing from his home in Lorson Ranch, a neighborhood in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His stepmother, Letecia Stauch, claimed Gannon had left the house to go to a friend's home but never returned.

The investigation quickly focused on Letecia, whose account of events contained inconsistencies. Evidence including blood found in the family's SUV and house contradicted her story. Despite the growing suspicion, Letecia maintained her innocence and fled to South Carolina.

On March 2, 2020, Gannon's remains were discovered under a bridge near Pace, Florida, having been transported there by Letecia. She was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and extradited to Colorado.

Letecia Stauch's trial in 2023 was notable for her erratic courtroom behavior and her defense team's insanity claim. She was found guilty of first-degree murder but also found not guilty by reason of insanity, resulting in commitment to the Colorado Mental Health Institute rather than prison.
