Tammy Daybell
Tammy Daybell was murdered by her husband Chad Daybell, who wanted to marry Lori Vallow. Her death was initially ruled natural but later reclassified as homicide.
On October 19, 2019, Tammy Daybell, 49, died in her sleep at her home in Salem, Idaho. Her husband Chad Daybell told authorities she had died of natural causes. Despite being relatively young and healthy, her death was not immediately investigated.
Just two weeks later, Chad married Lori Vallow in Hawaii. The speed of the marriage raised suspicions among Tammy's family and friends.
When Lori's children Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow were reported missing, investigators reexamined Tammy's death. Her body was exhumed in December 2019, and the cause of death was changed to homicide—she had been asphyxiated.
Chad Daybell was charged with Tammy's murder along with the murders of Tylee and JJ. He was convicted of all three murders and sentenced to death in 2024.
