Jennifer Pan hired hitmen to murder her parents in Markham, Ontario. Her mother was killed; her father survived. Pan was convicted of first-degree murder.

On November 8, 2010, three men entered the Pan family home in Markham, Ontario and shot both parents. Bich Ha Pan, 49, was killed. Huei Hann Pan, 57, was critically wounded but survived.

Jennifer Pan, 24, initially appeared to be a victim—she was found tied up in the home and told police about a home invasion by strangers. However, her father's recovery proved fatal to her story. From his hospital bed, he told police he saw Jennifer talking calmly with the intruders.

Investigation revealed Jennifer had orchestrated the attack. She had been living an elaborate lie for years—pretending to attend university and work as a pharmacist while actually living with her boyfriend. When her parents discovered the deception, she hired hitmen to kill them.

Jennifer Pan was convicted of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy. She was sentenced to life with no parole eligibility for 25 years.
