Case background and investigation

Cieha Taylor was 28 and worked at a call centre in Plant City, Florida, east of Tampa. According to NBC's Dateline, she was about 5 feet 6 inches tall with shoulder-length auburn hair, and was last known to be wearing a striped dress in gray, white, blue and red, possibly with a pink sweater.

On February 6, 2020, at about 4 p.m., she dropped her boyfriend at a residence on Cowart Road in Plant City, a short distance from her workplace. That is the last confirmed sighting. At about 7 p.m. the same day her black Toyota Solara was found roughly a mile away, on the railroad tracks at East Trapnell Road. The engine was running and no one was with the car.

Accounts of what was left behind differ slightly. Dateline reported that her cell phone and debit card were inside the vehicle. Fox 13 and Spectrum Bay News 9 reported that the driver's door was open, her purse or wallet was inside and her phone was on the ground nearby.

According to Bay News 9, the car was at first moved to the side of the road without a missing person report being taken, and her mother, Canitha Taylor, later drove it home. The family reported Cieha missing on February 9, 2020, and the vehicle was processed for evidence after that. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office classified her as missing and endangered. Dateline reported that deputies interviewed her boyfriend, described as the last person known to have seen her. No one has been named by the sheriff's office as a suspect.

About three weeks after the disappearance, her shoes were found on a drainage pipe near the tracks. ABC Action News reported that one month on, the sheriff's office and Homeland Security searched the area. Relatives and volunteer groups have carried out their own searches since.

In February 2022, Fox 13 reported a $10,000 reward for information, and Crime Stoppers offered up to $5,000 more, according to Bay News 9. In April 2024 the sheriff's office told Bay News 9 that the case remained open and active. Her family maintains a Facebook page, Finding Cieha, to keep attention on the case.
