Eleven-year-old Mikelle Biggs vanished while riding her bicycle outside her Mesa, Arizona home waiting for the ice cream truck. Her younger sister was playing nearby but didn't see what happened. Despite national attention, Mikelle was never found.

On the afternoon of January 2, 1999, eleven-year-old Mikelle Biggs was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk in front of her family's Mesa, Arizona home. She was waiting for the ice cream truck with her younger sister Kimber, who was 8 years old. When Kimber went inside briefly to get money, she returned to find Mikelle and her bicycle gone.

The disappearance occurred in a quiet residential neighborhood in broad daylight. Mikelle's bicycle was later found in the street near her home. Neighbors reported seeing nothing unusual, and there were no witnesses to an abduction. The speed of her disappearance—in the few minutes her sister was inside—suggested she was taken by someone in a vehicle.

Mesa police conducted an extensive investigation, interviewing hundreds of neighbors, sex offenders in the area, and following thousands of tips. The case was featured on America's Most Wanted and other national programs. Cadaver dogs and searches of nearby desert areas turned up nothing.

In 2002, investigators focused on a registered sex offender who lived nearby but could not build a case. The investigation has continued periodically with new leads and technology. Mikelle Biggs has never been found, and no one has been charged in her disappearance.
