The Daybell-Vallow case involved five deaths connected to extreme apocalyptic beliefs held by Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow. They believed certain people around them had become 'dark' or 'zombies' who needed to be eliminated.
Charles Vallow was shot by Lori's brother Alex Cox in July 2019. Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow were murdered in September 2019. Tammy Daybell was killed in October 2019. Alex Cox died in December 2019.
Chad Daybell was convicted of three murders (Tammy, Tylee, and JJ) and sentenced to death in June 2024. Lori Vallow was convicted of the same three murders and sentenced to life without parole in 2023.
The case exposed a subculture of extreme religious preparedness beliefs and raised questions about how fringe ideologies can lead to violence.
