JJ Vallow (7) and Tylee Ryan (16) were murdered by their mother Lori Vallow and stepfather Chad Daybell, who held apocalyptic religious beliefs. Both children were buried on Chad's property.

In September 2019, seven-year-old Joshua 'JJ' Vallow and sixteen-year-old Tylee Ryan disappeared in Rexburg, Idaho. Their mother Lori Vallow and her new husband Chad Daybell, both adherents of apocalyptic religious beliefs, claimed the children were safe.

When concerned relatives contacted police in November 2019, Lori and Chad fled to Hawaii. They refused to produce the children or explain their whereabouts.

On June 9, 2020, investigators searched Chad Daybell's property and found the children's remains. JJ had been wrapped in plastic and bound with duct tape. Tylee had been dismembered and burned.

Lori Vallow was convicted of first-degree murder in May 2023 and sentenced to life without parole. Chad Daybell was convicted in 2024 and sentenced to death. The case involved a web of apocalyptic beliefs in which the couple classified their victims as 'dark spirits' or 'zombies.'
