Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting 13 Black women while on duty. He targeted vulnerable women in a low-income neighborhood.

Daniel Holtzclaw was an Oklahoma City police officer who sexually assaulted at least 13 women while on duty between 2011 and 2014. All of his known victims were Black women, many with criminal records or substance abuse issues—women he believed would not be taken seriously.

Holtzclaw targeted women during traffic stops and welfare checks in a low-income, predominantly Black neighborhood. He used police databases to identify vulnerable targets and leveraged his authority to coerce compliance.

His final victim, a 57-year-old grandmother, immediately reported the assault. GPS data from his patrol car corroborated victims' accounts, and DNA evidence sealed the case.

In December 2015, Holtzclaw was convicted of 18 of 36 charges, including four counts of first-degree rape. He was sentenced to 263 years in prison. The case highlighted how police officers can exploit their position and how bias against marginalized victims enables serial predators.
