Real estate heir Robert Durst was connected to three killings spanning decades. He was convicted of murdering Susan Berman and suspected in the disappearance of his wife Kathie.

Robert Durst, heir to a New York real estate empire, was connected to three separate killings. His first wife, Kathleen McCormack Durst, vanished in 1982 and has never been found. Durst was long suspected but never charged in her disappearance.

In December 2000, Durst's close friend Susan Berman was found shot execution-style in her Benedict Canyon home in Los Angeles. Berman had reportedly been about to speak to investigators about Kathie Durst's disappearance.

While awaiting trial for Berman's murder, Durst fled to Galveston, Texas, where he disguised himself as a mute woman and rented a room. In September 2001, his neighbor Morris Black was found dismembered in Galveston Bay. Durst was acquitted of murder but convicted of evidence tampering for dismembering the body.

In the 2015 HBO documentary 'The Jinx,' Durst appeared to confess on a hot microphone, saying 'What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.' He was arrested for Susan Berman's murder and convicted in 2021. Durst died in prison in January 2022.
