Twenty-four-year-old Amy Lord was kidnapped from her South Boston apartment, forced to withdraw money from ATMs, then murdered. Edwin Alemany was convicted and sentenced to life.

On July 23, 2013, Amy Lord, a 24-year-old graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, was kidnapped from her apartment in South Boston, Massachusetts. Surveillance footage later showed her being forced at knifepoint to withdraw cash from multiple ATMs across the Boston area.

Amy's body was found later that day in Hyde Park's Stony Brook Reservation. She had been stabbed multiple times. The brutal nature of the crime and the daylight kidnapping shocked the city.

Edwin Alemany, a 28-year-old with a long criminal history, was identified through ATM surveillance footage and DNA evidence. He had been released from custody just weeks before the murder despite a string of violent offenses.

Alemany was convicted of first-degree murder in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The case prompted calls for reform to the criminal justice system's handling of repeat violent offenders.
