Two-year-old Liam Fee was murdered by his mother Rachel and her partner Nyomi Fee in Glenrothes, Scotland. He had suffered prolonged abuse. They also abused two other children.
On March 22, 2014, two-year-old Liam Fee was pronounced dead at his home in Thornton, near Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland. He had suffered a ruptured heart caused by severe blunt force trauma to his chest.
His mother Rachel Trelfa (also known as Rachel Fee) and her civil partner Nyomi Fee had subjected Liam to prolonged physical abuse. Evidence showed he had suffered multiple broken bones in the weeks before his death.
The couple attempted to blame Liam's death on another child in their care. They had also been abusing two other boys, tying them up in cages and forcing them to eat dog excrement.
Rachel and Nyomi Fee were both convicted of murder and multiple charges of child abuse in 2016. Each was sentenced to life imprisonment with minimum terms of 23.5 and 24 years respectively.
