Kouri Richins poisoned her husband Eric with a lethal dose of fentanyl in a Moscow Mule cocktail. She then wrote a children's book about grief. She was convicted of murder.
On March 4, 2022, Eric Richins, 39, was found dead in the bedroom of his home in Kamas, Utah. His wife Kouri told police she had made him a Moscow Mule cocktail before bed and found him unresponsive in the morning.
Toxicology revealed a lethal level of fentanyl in Eric's system—five times the fatal dose. Investigation showed Kouri had been searching how to obtain fentanyl and had a financial motive related to Eric's life insurance and real estate holdings.
After Eric's death, Kouri published a children's book called 'Are You With Me?' about helping children cope with grief, generating income from the story of her husband's death.
Kouri was arrested in May 2023 and charged with aggravated murder. She was convicted and faces life in prison. The case attracted attention for the audacity of writing a grief book while allegedly being the killer.
