On November 19, 2012, thirteen-year-old Dylan Redwine disappeared during a court-ordered Thanksgiving visit with his father Mark near Durango, Colorado. Mark claimed Dylan was gone when he returned from errands.
Dylan's remains were found in 2013 and 2015 in two locations in the mountains near Durango—his skull about 10 miles from where other bones were found.
The motive was believed to involve photographs. Dylan had found embarrassing personal photos of his father before the visit and may have confronted him about them.
Mark Redwine was charged with murder in 2017 and convicted of second-degree murder and child abuse in 2021. He was sentenced to 48 years in prison.
