Nineteen-year-old Jessica Chambers was found set on fire on a rural road in Courtland, Mississippi. After two trials, Quinton Tellis was convicted of her murder.
On December 6, 2014, nineteen-year-old Jessica Chambers was found engulfed in flames on a rural road near Courtland, Mississippi. First responders found her walking down the road, burned over 98% of her body. She died hours later at a Memphis hospital.
Jessica tried to speak to first responders but was so severely burned that her words were difficult to understand. Some witnesses reported she said a name.
Quinton Tellis was charged with Jessica's murder in 2016. His first trial in 2017 ended in a mistrial due to a hung jury. A second trial also ended in a mistrial in 2018.
Tellis was eventually convicted of capital murder in a third proceeding and sentenced to life in prison. He was also connected to another murder in Louisiana.
