Serial killer Israel Keyes confessed to multiple murders across the U.S. before killing himself in jail. His known victims include Samantha Koenig and the Currier couple, but the full extent is unknown.

Israel Keyes was one of the most methodical serial killers in American history. Operating from roughly 2001 to 2012, he traveled extensively across the United States, pre-positioning 'murder kits' in various locations and targeting victims seemingly at random.

Keyes was caught in 2012 after kidnapping and murdering eighteen-year-old Samantha Koenig from a coffee stand in Anchorage, Alaska. He used her debit card, which led to his identification and arrest in Texas.

During interrogation, Keyes confessed to multiple murders, including Bill and Lorraine Currier of Essex, Vermont (killed in 2011). He hinted at many more victims but refused to provide details about all of them.

On December 2, 2012, Keyes killed himself in his jail cell in Anchorage. He took the full scope of his crimes to the grave. The FBI continues to investigate potential victims and has released sketches and information in hopes of identifying them.
