Idaho Student Murders
Four University of Idaho students were stabbed to death in their off-campus home. Bryan Kohberger, a WSU criminology PhD student, was arrested. He pleaded guilty to all four murders in 2025.
On November 13, 2022, four University of Idaho students were stabbed to death in their off-campus home on King Road in Moscow, Idaho. The victims were Kaylee Goncalves (21), Madison Mogen (21), Xana Kernodle (20), and Ethan Chapin (20).
Two other roommates were in the house and survived unharmed, apparently sleeping through the attacks. The case generated massive national attention and online speculation.
Bryan Kohberger, 28, a criminology PhD student at nearby Washington State University, was arrested on December 30, 2022. Cell phone data placed him at the scene, and DNA on a knife sheath matched his profile.
Kohberger initially maintained his innocence. In 2025, he changed his plea to guilty on all four counts of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life without parole.
