Alex Cox
Alex Cox, brother of Lori Vallow, died suddenly weeks after killing Charles Vallow. His death was linked to the Daybell-Vallow conspiracy but officially attributed to blood clots and possible fentanyl.
Alex Cox, Lori Vallow's brother, was found dead in his Gilbert, Arizona bathroom on December 12, 2019. He was 51 years old.
Cox had been central to the Daybell-Vallow conspiracy. He shot and killed Charles Vallow on July 11, 2019, claiming self-defense. He is also believed to have been directly involved in the murders of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow.
The medical examiner determined Cox died from bilateral pulmonary thromboemboli (blood clots in the lungs). Fentanyl was detected in his system at a level below what would typically be lethal.
Whether Cox's death was natural, an overdose, or murder by his co-conspirators remains unclear. His death occurred at a convenient time—just as investigators were beginning to ask questions about the missing children.
