Wayne Nance Victims
Wayne Nance is suspected of murdering at least five people in western Montana during the 1970s-80s. He was killed by his final intended victim, furniture store owner Doug Wells.
Wayne Nathan Nance worked as a furniture mover in Missoula, Montana, and used his access to customers' homes to select victims. He is believed to have murdered at least five people in western Montana between 1974 and 1986.
His known victims include Michael and Teresa Shook, a young couple murdered in their home in 1974, and Donna Pounds, a realtor murdered in 1985. DNA and circumstantial evidence later linked Nance to these and other unsolved cases.
On September 4, 1986, Nance broke into the home of Doug and Kris Wells, furniture store owners he worked for. He shot Doug, stabbed Kris, and bound them both. But Doug Wells managed to free himself, retrieved a rifle, and shot Nance dead.
After Nance's death, police investigated him for several unsolved cases. He was posthumously linked to at least four additional murders through physical evidence found in his home, including victims' personal items and trophies.
