Tupac Shakur (arrest)

On September 29, 2023, Duane Keith 'Keffe D' Davis was arrested and indicted for the September 7, 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas. Davis was charged with murder with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement.
Davis had been in the white Cadillac from which the fatal shots were fired. He had admitted his involvement in multiple interviews, a BET documentary, and his 2019 memoir, believing he was protected by immunity from a 2009 federal proffer agreement.
The grand jury indictment alleged that Davis orchestrated the attack in retaliation for an assault on his nephew Orlando Anderson at the MGM Grand hotel earlier that evening. Anderson, the suspected shooter, was killed in 1998.
Davis pleaded not guilty. His trial is expected in 2025. He faces life in prison if convicted. The case is notable as one of the longest gaps between a murder and an arrest in a high-profile case.
