Tsutomu Miyazaki Victims
Tsutomu Miyazaki, the 'Otaku Killer,' murdered four young girls in the Tokyo/Saitama area. He kept body parts as trophies and sent taunting letters to families. He was executed in 2008.
Between August 1988 and June 1989, Tsutomu Miyazaki kidnapped and murdered four girls aged 4 to 7 in the Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo areas of Japan.
Miyazaki committed acts of necrophilia, mutilated the bodies, and kept body parts as trophies. He sent taunting postcards to the families of victims, including bone fragments of one girl sent to her family.
He was caught on July 23, 1989 while attempting to photograph a young girl. Police found over 5,000 videotapes in his home, many containing anime and horror films, leading to the derogatory label 'Otaku Killer.'
Miyazaki was convicted of four murders and sentenced to death. He was executed by hanging on June 17, 2008. The case created lasting stigma against otaku culture in Japan.
