The nude body of a young woman was found wrapped in a shower curtain in a ditch in Springfield Township, Pennsylvania. Despite distinctive physical features and evidence of pregnancy, she has never been identified.

On February 7, 1976, the nude body of a young woman was found in a ditch along a rural road in Springfield Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. She was wrapped in a floral shower curtain and had been dead for several days. The woman appeared to be between 17 and 25 years old, approximately 5'2" tall, and had been approximately six months pregnant at the time of her death.

Autopsy determined she had been strangled. She had brown hair and brown eyes, and her teeth showed some dental work. Despite extensive efforts to identify her through dental records, fingerprints, and public appeals, no match was ever found. The case was featured in local and regional media, but no one came forward to identify her.

Over the decades, investigators have pursued numerous leads and compared her description to missing persons reports from across the country. Forensic artist reconstructions were created and widely distributed. DNA was eventually extracted from the remains and submitted to genealogy databases.

The Springfield Jane Doe case remains one of Pennsylvania's oldest unidentified person cases. Her killer has never been identified, and the mystery of who she was—and who killed her and her unborn child—continues to haunt investigators.
