On March 8, 2024, Riley Strain, a 22-year-old University of Missouri senior, disappeared during a night out on Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee. He was asked to leave Luke Bryan's bar after appearing intoxicated.
CCTV footage tracked Strain walking toward the Cumberland River. His bank card and phone were found near the riverbank.
After a two-week search that drew national attention, Strain's body was found in the Cumberland River on March 22, about eight miles downstream from where he was last seen.
The medical examiner ruled his death an accidental drowning with acute alcohol intoxication as a contributing factor. The case highlighted the dangers of Nashville's riverside bar district.
