Richard Ramirez terrorized Los Angeles in 1984-1985, breaking into homes and committing murder, rape, and robbery. He was caught by an angry mob and convicted of 13 murders.

Between June 1984 and August 1985, Richard Ramirez broke into homes across the Los Angeles area, killing at least 13 people and sexually assaulting numerous others. His victims ranged in age from 9 to 83.

Ramirez's attacks were random and brutal—he would enter unlocked homes and windows at night, shooting, stabbing, and bludgeoning victims. He also committed rape and forced victims to 'swear to Satan.'

He was identified through a fingerprint match and his photo was published. On August 31, 1985, he was recognized in East Los Angeles and chased by an angry mob who beat him until police arrived.

Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders and sentenced to death in 1989. He died on death row from B-cell lymphoma on June 7, 2013, at age 53.
