Government contractor Pamela Butler vanished from her D.C. home. Her neighbor Nathaniel Williams confessed years later to killing her during an argument.

On February 5, 2009, forty-seven-year-old Pamela Butler, a government contractor who worked for the Department of the Interior, was last seen at her home on Gallatin Street NW in Washington, D.C. When she failed to report to work, colleagues became concerned and contacted police.

Police found Butler's home undisturbed, with her car, purse, and personal belongings still inside. Her three cats were found unattended. Despite a thorough investigation, no trace of Pamela was found for years.

In 2020, Nathaniel Williams, a longtime neighbor and acquaintance, confessed to killing Pamela during an argument in 2009. He told investigators he had disposed of her body in a dumpster. Her remains were never recovered.

Williams pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The case highlighted the challenges of solving missing person cases when the victim's body cannot be found.
