Kyron Horman

On the morning of June 4, 2010, seven-year-old Kyron Richard Horman attended a science fair at Skyline Elementary School in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon. His stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, drove him to school and walked him to his science fair exhibit. She said she last saw Kyron walking down the hallway toward his classroom at approximately 8:45 a.m. When Kyron did not get off the school bus that afternoon, his family called the school and learned he had been marked absent for the day.

A massive search was launched, involving the FBI, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and hundreds of volunteers. The heavily wooded hills surrounding the school were searched extensively by ground teams, helicopters, and dogs. No trace of Kyron was found. The investigation quickly became one of the largest and most expensive in Oregon history.

Suspicion focused on Terri Horman, who could not account for approximately two hours between leaving the school and running errands. She was seen on school security cameras but allegedly left before Kyron reached his classroom. Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, filed for divorce and a restraining order. It was later revealed that Terri had allegedly tried to hire a landscaper to murder Kaine months before Kyron's disappearance.

Despite the suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, she was never arrested or charged. She has denied any involvement in Kyron's disappearance and invoked her Fifth Amendment rights. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office has stated they have never excluded Terri as a person of interest but also have not publicly named a suspect. Kyron Horman has never been found, and the case remains one of the Pacific Northwest's most agonizing unsolved disappearances.
