Frank Hilley died of a mysterious illness in Anniston, Alabama. His wife Marie was eventually convicted of murder by arsenic poisoning in 1983. Marie had also poisoned her daughter Carol, who survived. Marie Hilley escaped custody in 1987, created a new identity, and was recaptured and died in prison in 1987.
