Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, most of them in his apartment at 924 North 25th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His victims were predominantly young men of color.

Dahmer's crimes involved drugging victims, strangling them, engaging in necrophilia, dismembering bodies, and in some cases, cannibalism. He preserved body parts as trophies, keeping skulls and other remains in his apartment.

On July 22, 1991, Tracy Edwards escaped from Dahmer's apartment and flagged down police. When officers entered the apartment, they discovered photographs of dismembered bodies and human remains throughout the residence.

Dahmer confessed to all 17 murders. He was found sane and convicted of 15 murders in Wisconsin, receiving 15 consecutive life terms. He was also convicted of one murder in Ohio. On November 28, 1994, Dahmer was beaten to death by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver at the Columbia Correctional Institution.
