Sisters Barbara (15) and Patricia (13) Grimes disappeared after attending a movie in Chicago. Their frozen bodies were found a month later along a rural road. The case has never been solved.

On the evening of December 28, 1956, Barbara Grimes (15) and Patricia Grimes (13) left their home on the South Side of Chicago to see the Elvis Presley film 'Love Me Tender' at the Brighton Theater on Archer Avenue. They were last seen leaving the theater at approximately 11:15 p.m. They never returned home.

Their disappearance triggered one of the largest missing persons searches in Chicago history. Elvis Presley himself made a public appeal asking the girls to come home. Tips poured in from across the country, and police investigated hundreds of leads.

On January 22, 1957, nearly a month after their disappearance, the nude, frozen bodies of both girls were found along a gravel road near German Church Road in unincorporated Willow Springs, a rural area southwest of Chicago. The cause of death was difficult to determine due to the frozen condition of the bodies, though authorities believed they had been murdered.

Multiple suspects were investigated, including Edward Lee 'Bennie' Bedwell, a drifter who confessed but later recanted. No one was ever charged with the murders. The case remains one of Chicago's most haunting unsolved crimes.
