Three siblings—Jane (9), Arnna (7), and Grant (4) Beaumont—vanished from Glenelg Beach in Adelaide, Australia on Australia Day. The case transformed child safety awareness in Australia.

On January 26, 1966—Australia Day—Jane Beaumont (9), Arnna (7), and Grant (4) took a bus to Glenelg Beach in Adelaide, South Australia, as they had done many times before. They were due home by noon but never returned.

Witnesses reported seeing the children at the beach with a tall, thin man with fair hair. The children appeared to know him and were comfortable in his presence. They were seen buying lunch at a bakery, suggesting the man had given them money.

A massive search and investigation followed, becoming the largest in Australian police history at that time. Despite numerous leads, suspects, and excavations of potential burial sites over the decades, the children have never been found.

The case profoundly changed Australian parenting culture, ending the era when children routinely traveled and played unsupervised. Suspects investigated include convicted pedophile Bevan Spencer von Einem and local businessman Harry Phipps, whose former property was excavated in 2018.
