Eight-year-old Ann Marie Burr vanished from her Tacoma, Washington home. Serial killer Ted Bundy, who lived nearby as a teenager, has been speculated as a suspect but the connection was never proven.

On August 31, 1961, eight-year-old Ann Marie Burr vanished from her family's home on North 14th Street in Tacoma, Washington. Her parents discovered she was missing in the early morning hours after finding her bedroom window open and a side door unlocked. Despite an intensive search, she was never found.

The case attracted renewed attention years later when serial killer Ted Bundy, who had grown up in the same Tacoma neighborhood and would have been 14 years old at the time, was suggested as a possible suspect. Bundy denied involvement in the Burr disappearance before his execution in 1989, though he acknowledged he had been a troubled teenager.

DNA testing conducted in the 2000s was inconclusive. While the Ted Bundy theory remains popular in true crime circles, investigators have never been able to establish a definitive connection.

Ann Marie Burr's disappearance remains Tacoma's oldest unsolved missing child case. The Tacoma Police Department continues to maintain the case file.
