A man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a Northwest Orient Boeing 727, received $200,000 in ransom, and parachuted from the plane over the Pacific Northwest. He was never identified or found. A partial bundle of the ransom money was found in 1980. The FBI officially suspended active investigation in 2016 after 45 years.
